Now that we have our VNC server installed on Ubuntu, we need to download a VNC viewer on our local computer, to be able to connect.
For this lesson we will download TightVNC Java Viewer.
To do so, visit tightvnc.com.
Cick "Download Now", from the left panel.
Download the TightVNC Java Viewer, to your desktop.
The file is a ZIP file so we will need to extract it. I use Winzip but you can use the Built in Windows Extraction utility as well.
Before you connect using VNC Viewer, you will need to establish a connection to your server using PuTTY.
vncserver, to launch the VNC server.
With that done, our server is now ready to accept VNC viewer connections.
Open tightvnc-jviewer.jar, from your vnc-viewer directory.
An interface will appear prompting you for a Remote Host IP and Port.
Type in the IP address for your Linode, and Port 5901.
Then click connect.
You should now see the viewer load Ubuntu desktop on your screen.
